Do You Have Enough Measuring Spoons?

I've been cooking a lot more lately, and have been frustrated by my limited quantity of measuring spoons. So, I suggested to my husband that he give me a set as a stocking stuffer.

As I unwrapped gifts on Christmas morning, I opened one that was rather heavy for its small size and inside I found this.

That’s right: he had given me FOUR sets of measuring spoons! That cracked everyone up.

There was another gift that I kept reaching for but my husband kept telling me to save it for last. Finally, I got to open it and what did I find? You guessed it, another FOUR sets! We all had another good laugh.

Eventually, we starting unwrapping gifts from our stockings and I opened two more sets! That’s right, I had TEN new sets of measuring spoons! Hubby definitely gets the award for most creative this year!

Later, I got to thinking about all the blessings those measuring spoons represent. Home, food, family, time, and health. I’m so thankful for all of these.

I hope you will also have many blessings in the coming year. A full measure. And that you will recognize the blessings as just that. An over flowing measure.

Maybe you’ll find that you even need more measuring spoons.

Maybe you'll remember a couple of months ago, when I was experimenting with mono printing. When I tried it (with thickened dye) on slick vinyl, the dye beaded up badly. At first, I thought it was worthless, but then I realized that the resulting lacy effect was both beautiful and useful. So much so, that I stitched a small sample into a whole cloth quilt. I'm calling it Effervescent.

I added black stitching to play up the existing colors. I'm quite happy with it.

I belong to an absolutely wonderful fiber art group, called the "Dirty Dozen." We're really excited to have a group show coming up in Kissimmee FL, (near Disney.) It will be at Osceola Arts, February 20 - March 31, 2024. We'll have 3 group challenges on display: "The Measure of a Woman,"Driven to Abstraction," and "Play List."

She Looked for Blessings and Found them

An opening reception will be held March 2, 2 - 5 PM. and we'll all be attending. This venue is very close to Disney World, so if you find yourself in the area, please do come visit.

I'll soon be teaming up with talented artists, Gabriele DiTota, and Sue Robinson, for a 3-person exhibit, which we're calling Cover Story. It will be on display at the Museum of Florida Art and Culture, on the campus of South Florida State College, in Avon Park, FL

Show dates are February 13 - April 6,2024. There will be two receptions. The first will be February 21, 12:30 - 2:30, with light refreshments. The second will be March 13, 5- 7 PM (no refreshments.)

This is a pretty big deal for all of us. We'll be video taped and everything! We're a little giddy.

We had a live tree this year, but it didn't last very long. We took it down on the 27th, but I still wanted some Christmas decorations. What's an elf to do? Enter Christmas Tree v. 2.0

I have a bare white tree in the living room, so I just decorated it with my most reflective ornaments. There's an uplight on the floor, so I think it works fairly well. And it's very festive! (Although my husband is shaking his head.)
